Q: I was just wondering why Lemmy hasn't appeared on a Metallica album as a co-singer and/or guest bassist? Has this already been suggested, or am I the first one to think of it?
Lemmy: You're the first one to think of it! Q: Lemmy I thought Girlschool and Motorhead were the perfect match. You made beautiful music together! Where is Kim and Denise from Girlschool now? Lemmy: They're still in Girlschool. Still going. Q: Hi this is for Lemmy. I am Oliver and I am starting a band. Do you have any tips and can you think of some band names for me? I have been a big Motorhead fan for years and I still am. I also came to see your concert at Apollo. Lemmy: (1) Don't get any married men or men w/live-in girldfriends in the band! Names? Ripsaw/Stranglefoot - I dunno!! Good luck. Q: The question I am asking is probably stupid but since the Damned are still touring and Motorhead are still touring what is the possibility of MOTORDAMNED doing just one last tour for bragging rights and to tell all the newschool punk assclowns this is the way you rock and roll sonny boy!!! Just something I would absolutely love to see again... Lemmy: Me too. We'll see. Q: Am just a Motorhead fan since I was 14 years old (today for more than 17 years now). I was very amused by Lemmy, Slim Jim & Danny B's album. After 17 years my mother is finally able to appreciate Lemmy, after many years of complaining. Must admit that I like the songs too! Lemmy finally made Motherhead! Are there other albums coming up in this genre? Of course I still appreciate the hard stuff but the good'oll rock'n'roll is nice for when I'm not drunk. With kind regards / met vriendelijke groet, Lemmy: Thanks - hello Mum! I usually don't have much time, but we might have another go. Q: Lemmy, you've told you actually learned Sid Vicious to play the bass, but in another interview I read that you didn't like the Sex pistols at all, you said that you thought they where just "invented" by the media, just a big hype created by the same people that wrote shit about them. Why then the cover for "God Save The Queen" if you did not like them? I know you just like the song, but thatıs not enough to explain buddy...HAHA C-YA on tour again Lemmy: I most certainly did NOT say that - probably made up by the interviewer. I always liked the Pistols. And I didn't teach Sid to play bass - it was impossible! Q: At one point you guys were going to work on a record with Ex-Nashville Pussy bassist Corey Parks. What happened to the project and (Lemmy) what happened to her? Cheers, Steve Lemmy: She's in L.A. working on a new band. We might - like all these projects it depends on having the time to do 'em. Q: What does NEMO MALUS FELIX MEAN? Lemmy: No peace for the wicked. Q: I've been a Motorhead fan for a number of years & I've seen the band with a variety of line ups. I've always felt bad about missing the shows on the "Another Perfect Day" tour & I've subsequently been disappointed that none of the songs from "A.P.D" have been played since, (although I did see the band do an ass-kicking version of "Shine" at the Vic theatre in Chicago about two years ago). I also loved the "Bastards" CD but I've only heard you do "Born to Raise Hell" live since then. I know there are years & years of records you have to choose from when you tour & everyone has their favorites, but I think a lot of fans would like to hear some more obscure songs. Let me also mention that the song "We are Motorhead" is the best set opener in years. Thanks ! Eric Stafford Lemmy: Thanks Eric - That's the thing right there - we did do "Liar" and "We Bring The Shake" for ages. Q: Hi Master of my Broken Ears (it was Berlin Columbia Halle & Wacken 2001), I have a few questions. to cut it short: 1. Do you like Iron Maiden ? What do you think of the X Factor and Virtual XI, done with Blaze (I like his voice and the style of these two albums) 2. You probably know, or have seen, Steve Harris playing the Bass. What do you think of him, because I think you play your bass in a very different way. 3. Last thing, no question, just have to say it: You really rocked, but I think most of the people were to tired on the Wacken 2001, but it was amazing and the Bomber itself looked cool! Lemmy: 1. I like Iron Maiden. Blaze was OK - it's just a big pair of shoes to fill (Bruce). 2. Harry's very good. 3. Thanks! Q: Dirty rumors about your cancer are going around. What is the truth? Lemmy: No cancer. Q: Motorhead is a band that to me started it all, still my favorite after all these years. Only saw you once opening for Alice Cooper in '88 in Newfoundland. Hopefully I'll see you guys again if you come near. Heavy speed brutal pounding metal, everyone else that does it now still can't hit as hard as you guys. If an alien landed on earth and asked what heavy music was, I'd play him Orgasmatron. You are classic and influential to many. Will you get in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and if so, would you care? You deserve to be there! Lemmy: We went to the R & R Hall of Fame - No, I wouldn't want to be there! I'm afraid we have no plans to come to Newfoundland any time soon!! Q: This is a question for Lemmy, I want to know what is his reaction to the passing away of Joey Ramone a few months ago? Lemmy: He was/is my friend. His loss is a bad day for Rock 'n' Roll. Q: I would just like to know what the guys of Motorhead think about James Hetfield of Metallica, and his rehab situation. Thanks Lemmy: I don't know how it's going, but I do seriously respect James - hope he's OK! Q: Lemmy have you considered producing young bands starting out? If so what would it take to get you to produce a record for my band?? Lemmy: No time, basically. Sorry. Q: I want to ask you lots of things but I won't... So here comes the most important one: What do you want a little innocent bitch to do to get your attention at a show? I would die if you looked at me. "I could use some dirty love, you can't refuse my dirty love. That's what I need too satisfy my greed...." Lemmy: Just show up!! Q: I read recently that you were writing your autobiography provisionally entitled 'White Line Fever'. My local bookstore says that they think it may be published later this year. Are any more specific details available? Lemmy: You wouldn't believe/have time to finish/want to know why the delay is so long. Soon, I hope. Q: I read in metal maniacs magazine that Dave Grohl, of Foo Fighters fame, is working on a heavy metal side project, and that Lemmy is gonna do something on it. Is this true? What else is up with this. Lemmy: We were supposed to, but then Dave cancelled and I have heard no more. Hello, Dave? Q: 1) Apart from Motorhead's own releases, would you agree that Appetite For Destruction (1987) was the last great and genuine rock n' roll album? 2) Rolling Stone once asked Axl Rose what album he'd take with him to a deserted island. He named the two records that had the most effect on him growing up - and which he continues to return to. They being Queen II and Never Mind The Bollocks (Pistols). Rose smiled and added: "I'd go with the Sex Pistols probably, because a ship might hear me then.." What album would you take, Lemmy? 3) Slash is an avid fan/friend of yours. The new line-up of Guns N' Roses - without Slash, Duff and Izzy - has garnered raves from both fans and critics (Vegas New Years and Rock in Rio III show), but how do you stand on the issue? Is Axl's new version still Guns N' Roses to you? Lemmy: (1) No. (2) Meet The Beatles. Ha! (3) It's not Guns & Roses - he should go out under Axl Rose. But why would he listen to me - or you? Q: Lemmy When you write a lyric (such as Lost in the Ozone), do you really feel all those things? I assume you do, cos I think it would be almost impossible for a human being to describe such depths of feeling, without ever being there yourself. Lemmy: Ha - shot down by caring, homesick Motorhead! When I write I go to the place in my head where I have those things. Bad place! Q: If you were to put together a band of all time great rock musicians, who would you have in your dream band and what instruments would they play. (Past/present members of Motorhead not allowed). Lemmy: Keyboards: Danny B, Pete Solley Drums: Slim Jim, Ringo and Terry Jones Bass: John Entwistle, Paul McCartney Guitar: George Harrison, Gary moore, Pete Townsend Rhythm Guitar: Me We all sing. Bye Love Lemmy Q: Hello. What is your favorite cigarette? Camel? Marlboro? Rothmans? Dunhill? And Please tell me about your new tattoo. MHB-1851/SHU Phil: Benson & Hedges - Free Ones. European. The tattoo has started to grow hair on it. It is meant to honour my Mum & Dad. Q: What are your thoughts about girls playing in band? I have heard several statements from rock 'n roll boys who believe that girls are on the stages only for one reason; publicity! ...this ain't right! Phil: I think girls have every right to be in bands. A musician is a musician wether they have tits or not! Q: Hi Phil My name is Simon and I've been a Hardcore Motorhead fan for years now. I admire your guitar playing and I'm trying very hard to make my playing sound like yours (at least it's as loud as yours). As I said before I play guitar myself and I've been looking for this LAG Explorer for quite a long time but I never saw it at any guitar shop. Where the hell can I buy this damn axe? Your my last and only hope. Have a nice day and thanx for your answer. Simon P.S. please come to Switzerland soon... Phil: Hi Simon, thanks for your kind words. The LAG really is a beautiful guitar and I just love playing it. As far as I know, it is one of a kind. LAG are supposed to be making me another one, but I'm unsure about what is really happening with it. If you email my guitar tech Roger at dgerio@yahoo.com, I am sure that he will give you LAG's phone numbers, etc. Cheers! Q: OK, bit of a guitar anorak question here boys, but could you specify the different methods used by Phil and Fast Eddie in getting their distorted guitar sounds, i.e. are any pedals used or is it just the amp's distortion? And what about your pickups? Thanks, Gary. Phil: Hi Gary. I get my sound by only using Humbucker pickups on my guitars and then I use a simple M & R micro Amp to boost the solos. I think Eddie mainly used Strats which have single coil pickups. Q: Do you still get a buzz from performing live and what do you think of the state of the British music industry as a whole? Phil: I still really love playing live. I guess it's because we have never sold out and play the music that we really love. And I think that the British Music Industry as a whole is pathetic and should take a good look at it's self. Q: I'm new to Motorhead, I was looking for some better music than the crappy teen-bop music that we only seem to get here. By chance a mate of mine was playing Born To Raise Hell when I went round his house (Brilliant song), and I felt like my prayers were answered. Especially 'cos I had bought a Telecaster the week before. Anyway, I was wondering if there is any tips that you can give me for playing the guitar, seeing as you have the best guitarist ever! Phil: The only tips I can give you is to listen to all kinds of music, practice really hard, maybe take a FEW music lessons and develop your own style. Good luck! Q: I guess that you had your ups and downs with Wurzel over the years, but that you got on real well overall. How did it feel after Wurzel left the band and the first time you took to the stage as Motorhead's sole guitarist? Phil: Wurzel left? Q: Big fan of yours. Just wondering if you could share a few of your favorite bands with us. Who were your influences? Phil: Sabbath, Purple, Zeppelin, UFO, Lizzy, Hendrix, Todd Rundgren and then Satriani, Vai and really loads of others. Q: Hey Phil- didn't they used to call you Wizzo? Where did that nickname come from? Phil: Because I am a member of the magic circle and could perform tricks. I guess Wizard got changed to Wizzo. |
