MOTORHEAD HAS SPOKEN

NEW QUESTIONS Updated FEBRUARY 3,1999NEW

Q: Do you get the same amount of money for records that are sold through record clubs like BMG and Columbia House as you would from cds sold at conventional stores?

Lemmy: No, they're cut out price.

Q: What do you usually have for breakfast? What sort of beer do you prefer ?

Lemmy: Bourbon and Coke. Carlsberg Special Brew.

Q: Hi, Lemmy. I've been on almost every gig in germany for the last ten years, but I can't remember ever having heard "Iron Horse", one of the best songs ever to come from Motorhead. Is it because it's a song of Fast Eddie (it is, isn't it)?! And by the way: the "Stone Dead Forever" album of '96 with Philthy and Eddie is great. And PPS: The "Overnight sensation" is no sensation at all -- hope, the next one 's gettin' better again! -- Dusty Ronny (Germany)

Lemmy: Iron Horse was written by Phil Taylor/Des Brown and Tramp of H.A. England; Thank you for those few kind words.

Q: Thanks for being the most consistently excellent band over the last two decades! Hurry back to Montreal. My sister back in the UK is at the same horticultural school as young Wurzel! Does Joe Petagno do other work than the Motorhead artwork, if so where can I find it? Loved "Tie Your Mother Down" on Dragon Attack, you also did "Cat Scratch Fever" have you any plans for projects with Ted Nugent?

Lemmy: Thank you; Soon, hopefully; not that young anymore; Yes; Dunno; No!

Q: Got the rerelease of Bomber, Ace of Spades, & Iron Fist the other day & noticed the Snaggletooth helmets. I was wondering if if you still had them? Also any plans for more acting? You weren't half bad (though the story lacked a bit), tons better than some musicians I've seen try to act.

Lemmy: I've still got mine; ain't had no offers; what movie?

Q: Lemmy, if you fell in the woods, would a tree hear you?

Lemmy: Depends if it's listening.

Q: I've liked Motorhead since 1916 came out. I have also enjoyed reading your interviews. Your tongue-in-cheek humor is one of the few things in this world that can make me smile and/or laugh. What happened to the Motormouth column in RIP magazine? I am happy to find you answering questions on the internet. Thanks for the music and the laughs.

P.S. Is there a hidden message on the LP edition of 1916?

Lemmy: My pleasure, RIP magazine changed format, then folded, so there goes that artistic outlet!! P.S. Yes!

Q: Lemmy,I was introduced to your music and/or band in 1995 by my big brother. He showed me the song 1916 and the Ace of Spades and it thought that it was coolest music . So 2 weeks ago I bought the latest album Overnight Sensation and I think that it is the coolest! Anyways, my question are:

A) What is your real name?
B) Are you racist? (I am black)
c) Will you ever play in British columbia Canada?
d) and have you ever pissed on a crowd?

These are the questions that keep me awake late at nights so please answer so I can sleep.

Lemmy: Ian Fraser Kilmister. I hate all racists, whatever color. Hopefully. No, that's Captain Sensible you've got there.

Q: Looking back, I always wonder how Motorhead managed to make the great ACE OF SPADES Album after the (dirty produced) BOMBER-LP. It sounds so much different! The songs are in my opinion much better, more songwriting, a clean Power-Production, totally new band! Was it just influence of Vic Maile (R.I.P.)?

Lemmy: Possibly - Better songs on 'Ace', I think, too.

Q: I read you love to travel by train. Is this true? (you wrote some funny lyrics on locomotives...). Did you ever thought of travelling with the longest railway on earth, the Transsiberian Railway? Must be the greatest adventure for railway-supporters. I'm gonna do it in summer.

Lemmy: Trains are OK - used to be okayer! Good Luck with the trip - and sleep with your money under your pillow!

Q: I got two questions, Lemmy. No, make that three. When are you going to get up to New England?! I've been waiting ever so patiently to go to a show, but you've been to busy in Japan and everywhere else! I saw Eat The Rich, it was great. Did you come up with the idea for the movie, or did someone ask you guys to make it? And, lastly, do you really own just one pair of pants? You only wore one in Eat The Rich, and on Rock N' Roll you guys put the prayer in the middle, asking the lord for enough money to buy another pair. Long standing joke, or what?

Lemmy: Hard to get promoters to book us, due to low album sales etc - Soon I hope! Movie was already in production when I was invited to be in it. That was Michael Palin, and no, now have 2 pairs of trousers.

Q: Some questions for you Lemmy:

1. I have always been impressed with the 'Another Perfect Day' album. Robbo's contribution has always been both misunderstood and underrated. Was the decision for Robbo to leave the band mutual? Were you disappointed with the reaction of the fans to his participation in the band?

2. Have you surfed the Internet yourself, or have any of the band members?

3. About ten years ago, your hand got injured by some cretin in the audience who threw an object on-stage. At the time, it was a nauseating behaviour exhibited at several concerts across Europe. Your article in Metal Hammer at the time expressing your anger and concern for the situation was very well prepared and honest. Does this sort of behaviour still occur? Do you ever feel in danger from misguided fans both on and off-stage?

I was very surprised to see that The Mouth published your phone number on the 'net. Besides the invasion of your privacy by hordes of eager fans, in this country that may also be an invitation to something more sinister. How do you feel about that?

4. I've lived in the US for 7 years now - I'm a Welshman myself - and I'm finally going to get my citizenship. I feel it is necessary for me to participate in the political process, as corrupt and disappointing though it is. How long have you been a permanent resident in the US, and have you considered getting US citizenship? Do you vote (US or UK)?

Lastly, I love Overnight Sensation - 'Civil War' is excellent. When are you coming back to tour in the US? I'm in the Washington, DC, area and awaiting your return. My Abraham Lincoln's can't wait to find a new home in your manager's ticket drawer.

My apologies for such long-winded questions - they've kind of built up over time, if you know what I mean. Thanks for the many years of pleasure.

Lemmy: (1) We had to fire Robbo 'cos he kept fucking up - I think he may have been subconciously TRYING to get sacked; and yes, I was a bit. (2) Not me - can't swim. (3) Everybody's in danger, all the time. So I don't really worry about it. You notice "The Mouth" doesn't even tell you his NAME! If I get hold of him, "The Mouth" won't have no teeth in it. (4) I've been over here on and off for 9 years. Can't get a green card, but I don't really want to vote!! See "New England" question above.

Q: Lemmy, I would like to know how you came to choose Ted Nugent's Cat Scratch Fever to cover on the March Or Die album. I'm a fan of both Motorhead and Ted, by the way it's an excellent cover version.

Lemmy: Thank You. Phil Campbell's idea.

Q: Lemmy- Who is more responsible, directly or otherwise, for doing the most damage in history- Jesus Christ or Adolph Hitler? Thanks, Tim Shockley MHB672 (H)

Lemmy: Oh, Jesus Christ - He's had longer!

Q: How well did you knew Ian Stuart and how do you like his music? Just curious. See you next time in stockholm (I`ll be the loudest fan).

Lemmy: I knew him briefly, I don't really like racist music, so I haven't heard the later stuff. Nazism is kind of old fashioned, yes?

Q: What are the things you are the most proud of? Be it music, life in general or anything. are you satisfied with the way things turned out in his career...and on the other side...what would you change now if you could?

Lemmy: No regrets, life's too short - I'm proud you think enough of my opinion to ask me stuff.

Q: We've heard that you're dead. Is that true?

Lemmy: Depends

Well, that's it for now. We'll be posting more Q+A very soon so keep sending them in.
