MOTORHEAD HAS SPOKEN

NEW QUESTIONS Updated MARCH 28,1999NEW

Q: How do you feel about Metallica now that they have pretty much changed everything about themselves. I'm sure they're still nice guys but Kirk has been saying bad things about his roots like,"Metal is dead and there is no use trying to bring it back." I am a metalhead and will never stop being one. I just can't understand how one of metals reigning titans has now become a pitiful alternative band. And why is their name still 'Metallica', why isn't it 'Alternica'. I turn to you for the answers.

Phil: I think that Metallica have always been and still are a great band. Their music has mellowed a bit recently which I think is a reasonable progression for any band that has played mega heavy for a long time. I don't believe metal/heavy music will ever die personally, but as for Kirk, that's his opinion, and that's O.K. too, but don't always beleive what you read and hear in the press.

Q: I live in Mexico and I'm 39 years. I have always liked your style. Do you think Clinton could play saxophone in your band when he is retiring from the presidential duty? I like him to.

Phil: I hope not as I am also learning to play sax at the moment, besides which, he'd take all the groupies.

Q: Hey, I saw you guys on the OzzFest and you looked pretty annoyed at the fact that you only had a half hour to play. If you didn't like the 30 show length, why did you join the tour?

Phil: Money

Q: Any comments about your Moscow gig?

Phil: Great gig/great crowd

Q: Why don't you do a charity fundraiser to raise money to hire a hit man to rid the world of The Slice Whores(spice girls) Hanson and all such vermin

Phil: I am a hit man

Q: A) What do you read on tour to while away the lonely nights?

B) I want to quit smoking, do you have any advice?

C) Have you ever thought of doing a concept album? And if you did, what concept would it be?

Phil: A) Stephen King/Playboy, B) No, except don't pin a rock band, C) No but good question-watch this space.

Q: Why are your American tours so brief ? I've seen you twice, but that was years ago. I'd love to see you all again, but the 98 Ozzfest didn't come w/in 300 miles of my area. Will upstate NY ever see Motorhead again ? I'm sure other fans in various area wonder the same thing ! Cheers !

Phil: Cos agents and promoters don't know Shit! US Tour starting on West Coast may 1st, full tour dates to follow- i.e. I don't know them yet.

Q: How do you feel about Metallica doing covers on your songs? What do you think about Metallicas music? On a scale from one to ten, how good do you think the swedish king Karl XII (Charles XII) was as a military leader? When are you coming back to Malmoe (Sweden)? I'll buy you a beer or two if that'll improve the odds for you coming back. Drink up, shoot in let the beatings begin... (Sorry that was Metallica. My misstake...) Regards, Fredrik!

Phil: I wish they would do a cover of a Motorhead song which I wrote. I think Metallica are a talented rock band, I listen to them occasionally. Don't know nothing about the Swedish King. Malmoe probably much later this year.
