October 7/99 Motorhead Tour News!

I have added several new tour dates to Motorhead's triumphant stomp across North America. The first couple of shows in Texas had to be cancelled due to a bout of strep throat (sp?) that had striken Mikkey. He is feeling much better now and the band is out, stonger then ever!

The new dates are posted on the tour dates page.

COVERKILL

Metal artisans Overkill are about to release their latest effort entitled Coverkill. It is a great collection of covers that they have recorded to pay homage to the bands and songs that had a major impact on them. Judging from the band's name, you have to KNOW that Motorhead had a bit of an impact on them. The first track on the album is Overkill's take on the Motorhead classic Overkill. The liner notes have this to say about the track:

"I think that this one is self explainitory. When looking for a moniker we wanted something that was descriptive to our perception of presentation. We were standing on the street after rehersal, drinking beer and listening to Motorhead..."only way to feel the noise, is when it's good & loud"!!!... the birth.

I once read a quote that said there are really only two bands. Motorhead and the Ramones! Not too far off.

September 12/99 Motorheadshop Open For Business!

Over the past 3 years that I have been running the Motorhead website, one request that has been made by thousands of fans was to offer merchandise for sale online. Well, after much deliberation, I have opened the Motorheadshop and stocked it with a few goodies. There will be more items to come in the near future.

LEMMY - THE BIOGRAPHY

I spoke to Lemmy last week and asked him about the status of his much talked about and anticipated biography. He said that the principle writing is completed and that it is now in the hands of the editor. He also mentioned that big league publishers Simon & Schuster will be releasing it, likely next year.

September 8/99 New Tour Dates!

Motorhead will be engaging in a second leg of their North American tour in support of their latest opus, Everything Louder Than Everyone Else. Joing the boys on tour will be hot newcomers to the metal scene, Nashville Pussy. I have posted the tour dates that I know of so far. PLEASE NOTE that these are mostly still tentative and are subject to change without notice. Check them out on the tour dates page.

In addition, Motorhead will be heading across Scandinavia for an extensive tour in November. Joining them will be Manowar and Dio. This is sure to be an awesome tour! Keep checking the site for the latest dates!

NEW ALBUM

The new album will be released in the spring of 2000. Lemmy told me that the early front runner for an album title is "We Are Motorhead". I emphasis that this is an early choice... and every time that they have given me an early choice in teh past, they have changed it before the final release.

I also had the opportunity to hear a special song that they are covering for this album... but I have been sworn to secrecy as to the title... but I think you will all love it!

Also, Lemmy is working with Slim Jim, formerly of rockabilly giants, The Stray Cats on a new album. Lemmy will be contributing a cover of a classic Elvis track. Which one has not been decided yet.

TRIBUTE CD - THE SEQUEL

Now that it looks like the first Internet tribute album will be released exclusive to visitors of the official website. So, I would like to initiate plans to produce a sequel! There have already been several bands that have contacted me and expressed interest in participating. So, heres the idea...

Any of you out there that are part of a band that loves to play Motorhead tunes, how would you like to contribute a song? The songs would intially available only as Real Audio files on the official website. The first tribute got listened to by over 5000 people. Here is your chance to get your band heard playing songs by your favorite band!

I have already had several bands email their interest... but we need more. If you are interested, please send me an email to acetrump@bigfoot.com. Make sure that subject of the email is "OS Tribute 2". I will send out a seperate email to the bands with details about the project so that it doesn't clutter up the list. Oh, and I promise that it will take NO WHERE near as long to get this one up and running!

SETI and MOTORHEAD

SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intellidence) is a program that was initiated by the US Government some years ago to study the radio waves that are transmitted from space. The idea being that if there was life on another planet, they might try to send us radio signals. But, gathering the data for SETI has been easier then actually crunching it through the computers and analysising it. So, with the advent of the internet, they have decided to solicite the help of the millions of PC owners out there to help in the search for life on other planets.

I think it is a really cool notion to have the entire universe listening to Motorhead someday. But first, we gotta find them! So, if you are interested in participating, just head on over to http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ and download the screen saver software that analyses the data from the radio telescopes. All the instructions and details are there.

Now, we want our rather loud voices to be heard! To this end, SETI also has allowed groups to combne the efforts of computer owners to show relative rankings in participation. In other words, who has crunched the most data! So, I have created a group for all of us Motorheadbangers! After you have signed up for the SETI@home project, mosey on over to the groups section located at http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/team_list.html. Once you are there, use the search engine to find the group called Motorheadbangers. Follow the instructions there on how to contribute your efforts to the group.

Lets show the world that Motorhead fans can do their part!

August 19/99 More Website Additions

Many new pictures have been added to the very popular Motorhead Picture Gallery. When I went on tour with the guys in May of 1999, I left behind a disposable camera. The guys ended up snapping all kinds of cool candid shots just for you. Enjoy! Click Here to visit the new picture gallery.

In other news, the band will be touring the United States again in October of 1999. Hitting the road with them this time is the absolutely dynamic new band, Nashville Pussy. I will be posting tour dates as soon as I get them on the tour dates page. Keep checking the site for the latest dates!

The guys are in Germany right now laying down tracks for their next studio effort, expected in early 2000. More news as I get it.

February 13/99 Lemmy Signature Bass

* I recently attended the annual NAMM show in Los Angeles, CA. While there, I had occasion to speak to John Hall from Rickenbacher regarding the long awaited, long anticipated, long promised Lemmy Signature Bass.

John explained that they have been trying to produce it for a long time, but the design is very complex and difficult to produce. "There have been many technical problems with carving the design in a mass production environment", John lamented.

He went on to explain that the machinery that is used to mass produce such instruments works on a series of "points" that define the shape of the instrument for the carving machines.

The limit in the number of points that can be defined has proved a stumbling block with regards to Lemmy's bass design. "It's a very unusual designs with some complex carving" John explained. He also added that they have their best people working on dealing with the limitations. "It will happen" John stated, giving all of us hope!

February 10/99 Everything Louder than Everything Else

* The release date of Everything Louder Than Everyone Else has been pushed back to March 23/99. So the official release dates will be:

North America: March 23/99
Europe: March 22/99

The package will include an 8 page booklet and have lots of pictures. *Lemmy has taken each song on the album and written a paragraph on his thoughts about the track. Here is an example of what he wrote about Metropolis:

"Metropolis"
Here's another old warhorse. Been in the set since 1498!
Gone now though, so this could be your last chance to hear it live! Or not!

Some celebreties will also be including comments in the liner notes including the likes of Dime Bag Darrell, Metallica, Bruce Dickinsen and Ron Jeremy. Here is a taste:

"All men like good head. President Clinton fell for Monika-head,
but as for me, I'll take Motorhead anyday."

- Love & Kisses
Ron Jeremy

January 20/99 New Album Update

* The new live album will be called Everything Louder Than Everyone Else, not "False Teeth For The Deaf" as previously reported. The set was recorded at THE DOCKS in Hamburg, Germany on the Snake Bite Love Tour. It is also now going to be a double CD. The track listing is as follows:

They finished mixing the album today. It apparently sounds KILLER! (What else would you expect). It is still scheduled for a March 1999 release. Cover Art is going to be by veteran Motorhead artist Joe Patagno. The band is planning to tour North America in April-May of 1999 and Europe possibly in June... some of the dates in Europe may be with Metallica... we'll keep ya posted!

* Lemmy has signed a book deal for the publishing of his long awaited auto-biography. It will have lots of great stories about his life and the music. He is writing with Janiss Garza and we can expect the book in 2000.

* On December 31, Los Angeles' own ROCK CITY NEWS presented Lemmy with a life time achievement award. Lemmy was on hand to receive the award, arriving in a limo with supermodel in tow!

* A Motorhead tribute is being worked on by Victory Records, and will bring the following bands: Groovie Ghoulies, Dropkick Murphys, Skarhead, Electric Frankenstein, Zeke, Integrity and many more. The band tells me that they are not supporting this effort.
