Dec 11/2000 Lemmy On The Road To Recovery!

Lemmy has been advised by doctors to take a complete break due to extreme exhaustion, so Motorhead have been forced to cancel the rest of their European tour, including three UK dates.

In support of the band's 25th Anniversary album, We Are Motorhead, the band played dates in Japan before traveling to the UK for their sell-out gig at Brixton Academy, and then left straight away for a lengthy European tour, taking in many places where their fans had not seen the band for many years including Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Belorussia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. This resulted in the band playing 39 shows in 48 days, with a grueling travel schedule between each show.

Lemmy had a severe bout of influenza prior to the present tour, but persevered to ensure the band's fans weren't let down. Never really getting over the illness meant that a handful of European dates were canceled, but after a few days rest Lemmy continued to play -- against doctor's advice.

"Doctors have been telling me for years and years to slow down," said Lemmy from his hospital bed in Italy. "How was I to know that this time they meant it? I carried on because I didn't want to let the fans down in the countries we were due to play...it now looks like I should have taken time out weeks ago to fully recover."

Lemmy has been advised to take four weeks rest to ensure a full recovery.

September 9/2000 Castle Releases Two New Motorhead Collections

Can it really be twenty-five years since Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister first picked up a bass guitar in anger and inaugurated the Rock beast now known as Motšrhead? Indeed so, and Castle Music celebrate this glorious anniversary with the release of two must-have collections.

'The Chase Is Better Than The Catch: The Singles A&B's'

First up we have a ferocious twenty-four compilation which yokes together the band's single A and B sides, as recorded during their heyday with the Bronze Records label. Motšrhead were the masters of the seven-inch single, distilling their fevered full metal racket to the dictates of the format brilliantly. Contained within are such unvarnished metallic classics as "Overkill", "Bomber" and "Ace of Spades", fiery speedfreak shards of heavy-duty musical mayhem. The joy of the classic Motšrhead forty-five was often in flipping it over, where the listener finds more of the same, sulphuric guitar, clattering drums, a crunching underpinning of bass and topping it off Lemmy's increasingly unhinged vocal assault.

'Over The Top: The Rarities'

The Rarities is a twelve track round-up of lost gems from the mighty Ôhead catalogue. It contains the likes of their Motšrhead / Girlschool hit, "Please Don't Touch", incendiary alternate takes of "Louie Louie", "(Don't Let ÔEm) Grind You Down", as well as their version of the Johnny Burnett / Yardbirds classic, "Train Kept A-Rollin". No Motšrhead fan will want to be without this sizzling reminder of one of Metal's most revered of institutions.

September 1/2000 Doro Pesch Set To Release First Album In U.S. In Over 10 Years!

Having been out of the US music spotlight for over a decade, German rock icon Doro Pesch has returned to show America what's been missing in the current state of hard rock! After captivating & enchanting the audience at this year's March Metal Meltdown in New Jersey, Doro is preparing to unleash a new album through KOCH Records (set for release on September 12th) that will re-position her name to true rock regality.

Although she has kept musically active in Europe over the years, this will be her first US release since 1990's self-titled release. Former vocalist for 80's Metal giants Warlock, Doro felt the need to break away from the 'sword & sorcery' stigma that surrounded the band and spread her wings to focus on a more emotional & personal sound. As a solo artist, she has in excess of eight releases to her credit and has achieved worldwide success. Now it is time for her to re-establish herself on American shores, and in order to achieve this goal, she is prepared to release a very memorable album.

Not a woman to pull any punches, Doro enlisted the assistance of some very noteworthy musicians to compose this magnum opus! She recently teamed up with Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister in Los Angeles to re-record the Motorhead track,"Love Me Forever" in pure, emotive Doro fashion. The song originally appeared on Motorhead's album '1916'. This collaboration also spawned a new track, another duet called "Alone Again". Both songs will appear on her new album, which is now titled 'Calling The Wild'.

If your palate is not yet whet with anticipation, the release also features contributions from Slash (Snakepit, ex-Guns 'N Roses) and Al Pitrelli (Megadeth, ex-Savatage, ex-Asia, etc.). If that wasn't enough to make a mammoth of an album, the proverbial icing on the cake, however, is an amazing Doro-ized cover version of the Billy Idol classic "White Wedding". Guest appearances coupled with Doro's trademark rock ethic of 'stunning beauty meets aggressive beast' will make this an album not to miss!

August 17/2000 METAL-IS LABEL PRESENTS THE BEST OF MOTORHEAD 25TH ANNIVERSARY DOUBLE CD RELEASE

Motorhead Discography

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of one of the world's greatest metal bands, Motorhead, the fast growing Metal-Is label is proud to present a career spanning 40 track digitally remastered CD entitled simply, The Best Of Motorhead.

This is the first time that such a comprehensive Motorhead collection has been made available. Hit singles including 'Ace Of Spades', 'Bomber', 'Overkill', 'Please Don't Touch' (performed with Girlschool as Headgirl) are all amongst this band authorised and personally selected set. Titles from all the important periods of the band's recording history have been carefully chosen. From their very early legendary Stiff Records label releases, through the Chiswick & Bronze eras right up to present day recordings, with their controversial cover of 'God Save The Queen' - taken from the recently released We Are Motorhead album. Added to this are 4 previously unreleased concert cuts from the early eighties when the band were selling-out tours on a regular basis, and were a legendary live attraction.

With recent triumphant appearances at a number of summer festivals in the UK & Europe, Motorhead will be touring later this year. In the meantime however, you can enjoy in one sitting the full history of a band that has been at the forefront of metal music for a quarter of a century - so they must be doing something right!

The Best Of Motšrhead, catalogue number MISDD 002, is released on the Metal-Is label on Monday 28th August 2000. You can pre-order your copy today by clicking here.

June 26/2000 Motorhead Cancels Philadelphia Show

Last night in Philadelphia was a grim day for the Motorhead fans gathered to witness their favorite band at the Trocadero in Philadelphia, PA. The band was set to blast the crowd with it's trademark sonic assault, but the equipment supplied by the promoter was not up to the job.

This promoter has dealt with Motorhead many times before and was well aware of the equipment requirements that are necessary for Motorhead to put on the show all their fans deserve. Motorhead has been very tolerant of sub-standard equipment on this tour, but this one took the cake. The sound system this promoter supplied looked like it came from the bargin basement at Radio Shack. The entire system would have melted on the first note Lemmy and Co. would have strummed.

So, at the last minute the band decided that putting on a sub-standard show was not good enough and decided not to perform. We aplogize to all the fans that came out. At press time, it was not known wether or not this show would be made up on a future date.

June 18/2000 Mikkey Dee Arrested

MTV.com posted this story...

Motšrhead Drummer Arrested For Hotel Incident

Motšrhead drummer Mikkey Dee was arrested in Denver early Friday morning after he and two members of the band's entourage caused a commotion at a hotel, during which they apparently tried to break down the door to a room that wasn't theirs.

According to the "Denver Rocky Mountain News," Dee, whose real name is Michael Delaouglou, was taken into custody after he and bus driver David Smith tried to crash in the door of a Boeing 767 captain staying at the Holiday Inn.

The two men then got into it with hotel security and the police when they arrived on the scene. The two were arrested, along with another woman, Patricia Laducer, on charges of disturbing the peace.

Dee was released in time to rejoin Motšrhead for the band's show that evening at the Ogden Theater, and Denver authorities have yet to determine what charges, if any, would be brought against the drummer.

Also, I have updated the Tour Dates page this afternoon. You can check out the current tour dates on the Tour Dates page.

May 28/2000 Motorheadshop Additions!

I have added a few new items to the Motorheadshop. You can now order signed and number CDs and promo posters from Motorhead's latest release, We Are Motorhead. In addition, Mikkey supplied me with a few hand signed sets of his signature series drumsticks, All of these items are in VERY short supply, so order today! Click Here to visit the Motorheadshop.

I had the honor of joining Motorhead for two of the shows in their 25th Anniversary tour. I caught the show in Santa Ana on May 23 and the show in Hollywood on the 24th.

I must say that they were two of the best performances that I have ever witnessed! All of the guys seemed to be really into the performance. Lemmy was particularily playful, genuinely having fun on stage. They performed two new songs on the first night. They kicked off the show with "We Are Motorhead" and later in the set we were treated to "God Save The Queen". The second night they also added "Stay Out Of Jail" to rowsing crowd reaction. The new songs fit very well into the 90 minute set.

I managed to video tape the performance in Hollywood and have been battling with Adobe Premiere, learning the ins and outs of this powerful software. I should be able to present something very soon!

I GAVE MY LIFE FOR MOTORHEAD, BUT THEY GAVE IT BACK!

While I hung out with the fellows, I had the chance to get the low down on what happened to Tony Betton, Motorhead's long time lighting tech. He told me that while Motorhead was in Souoth America, he died. Literally. He was setting up some lights for a gig when he made contact with a electric pully system that was improperly grounded. 360 Volts surged thruough him until he was unconscious. and he was left dead, dangling from one leg about 40 feet above the stage. Other members of the crew rushed to his aid and he was revived on the way to the hospital. Miraculously, he only missed the next two shows before he was back at it. The Doctors told him that he had actually died for some time... but Tiny doesn't remember anything. "I gave my life for Motorhead... and they said they didn't want it!" Tony quipped to me with a smile as he showed the electrical wounds that pocked his arm. We are very lucky to still have Tony with us... thank the gods of Rock 'n' Roll!

NASHVILLE PUSSY

I had the opportunity to get to know some of the people in NASHVILLE PUSSY during the course of my two days with the band. These are awesome people that put on an incredible show! I particularilly want to thank Ruyter... she is an awesome woman and a consumate showperson! I can see why Lemmy liked this band so much!

April 9/2000 Orgasmatron 2000 MP3 - Yours FREE!

"Recorded exclusively for MUSICBLITZ, "Orgasmatron 2000" updates the title track of Motorhead's classic 1986 LP in appropriately thunderous fashion. Now trimmed down to a trio of Lemmy, guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee, Motorhead sounds as nasty, smelly, and ill-tempered as ever. Lemmy once bragged that if Motorhead moved in next door to you, your lawn would immediately die; after one listen to "Orgasmatron 2000," you'll be fearing for the health of your entire block. " - Dan Epstein

MOTORHEAD is back! Lemmy and crew have recorded a new version of the classic "Orgasmatron" - and it f***ing rocks. It's only available on the internet as an MP3 single on www.musicblitz.com, and it's FREE. Beat that. Please let your people know about this killer new track so we can keep the new music coming!

January 30/2000 Motorhead Documentary Release Date Delayed

I got a call from noted German documentarian Peter Sempel this past week. He informed me that the documentary on Lemmy that he is producing will not premiere at the Berlin Film Festival. "I am not sure yet where and when it will be released... but I'll keep you posted", Peter informed me.

January 8/2000 Motorhead Speaks Again!

I just added a whole new batch of Motorhead Speaks questions to the site. Both Phil Campbell and Lemmy took time out to answer a new batch of fan queries submited through this website. Check them out by clicking here.

I had the opportunity to speak to Lemmy the other day and he gave a run down on upccoming events. First, he has finished the album of old Rock 'n' Roll covers he did with Slim Jim. I am not sure of the release date, but it will be soon. Tracks include covers of songs by Buddy Holly, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jimmy Reed and others. Lemmy also spent New Years Eve slamming out about 10 songs at L.A.'s fmous Cat Club on the strip with Slim Jim and Danny, running through some of the tracks that will appear on the CD.

It also looks like the Hawkwind reunion is a go. It is scheduled to happen in March 2000 and Lemmy said that he is definitely in, barring any unforeseen complications.

This year is also the 25th Anniversary of Motohead's birth. There will be a special event staged to celebrate this milestone. Keep watching for details!

Motorhead welcomes the year 2000! This year will see some exciting things for Motorhead, specifically:

* A new studio album in the spring
* A tour in support of the new album
* Lemmy's long awaited biography, WHITE LINE FEVER

2000 also marks the 25th Anniversary of Motorhead. Watch for some exciting happenings in the course of the year!

Lemmy Film

Noted German documentarian Peter Sempel is making a film all about our favorite bass player, Lemmy. I know that he has done interviews with lots of celebs for the film, as well as having filmed several shows. He was also on hand to take film during the recording of the upcoming album. He hopes to release the film at the Berlin Film Festival on Feb 10/2000. Check out details on his website located at http://www.sempel.com

Motorhead Tribute

The Internet tribute to Motorhead keeps building steam and more and more artists keep joining the ranks. I had hoped to get this thing and and running by now, but several of the bands needed a little more time to complete their contributions. Our resident artist extrodinaire, Paul Higgins, is again designing the cover for the new tribute. I saw the initial working and it looks AWESOME!
