MOTÖRHEAD, the hardest working, hardest touring band in the world, loves when fans buy their records, but not this time. A new box set, called Complete Early Years Box Set, has just come out by the company who has the rights to the band's early recordings, and they are charging over $600 for it!
-----------------------------------------------------------
At that time, the band was able to temporarily halt the product from coming out, but now Motörhead has learned that the label is moving ahead with the project, which is scheduled for release in December. Motörhead have no control over what's done with these early songs, and they want to make sure fans are completely aware that they have no involvement whatsoever in releasing such an expensive box set.
Says Motörhead’s iconic frontman Lemmy:
“It really bothers me that these people would put this out at these prices especially in this day and age, when money is tight. There you go again labels, trying to squeeze out every last dime you can from our fans.
But they reap what they sow, don’t they? Look what’s going on with the music business. These are fine examples of corporate greed: reissuing the same stuff over and over again, overcharging the customers with outrageous pricing, basically trying to rape our fanbase.
Although we still make money from record sales, this is not the way I ever intended it. I don’t like to see fans getting ripped off or taken advantage of. And that’s what’s happening here.”
If fans do want to gift a loved one with some new Motörhead product this holiday, by all means, please pick up the band’s most recent The Wörld Is Ours - Vol 2 - Anyplace Crazy As Anywhere Else, the follow-up to 2011’s The Wörld Is Ours - Vol 1 - Everywhere Further Than Everyplace Else.
Like it’s sibling, Anyplace Crazy… is packed with more magnificent Motörmaterial from “The Wörld Is Yours” tour, including the triumphant 2011 Wacken headline appearance as well as highlights from the Sonisphere and Rio shows. More than anything, these are new recordings, new releases and compiled with care and attention from the band themselves.
If you want to support Motörhead, then this is the way to do it. And if you do have a hankering for the old material, remember, it is still available piecemeal, and not simply via the outrageously over-priced box set.
On the road to play rock’n’roll but this time more successful than ever.
We are very proud to announce that in only eight German headlining shows the band has sold more than 40.000 tickets and can’t keep up with the request for more. The only place we were able to upgrade into a bigger venue is Berlin on Dec 5th , now moved to the Veldodrom with a capacity of 8000 people.
This time around supported by Anthrax who is firing up the crowd with their intense, great show – more than a warm up for all Motörhead Fans! Not only the great package but it seems like Motörhead is like a fine wine – the older they get, the better they come.
The iconic band is not only a lifestyle and stand for rock’n’roll music as loud and hard as it gets – it is simply a MUST to see Lemmy, Phil and Mikkey on stage.
On behalf of the band, the management, the label and the promoter we like to take this opportunity to thank all the fans who made this happen but not to forget the print, radio, online and TV media who supported the band over the years and promoted them so well.
Thank you!

Some friends of the band have asked us to promote a cause that the Motorhead family believes in:
This is the most informative book about Motorhead ever, and that is no idle boast. Written by their official biographer, Alan Burridge, who is often referred to by the band s legions of fans, the Motorheadbangers, as Professor Motorhead, this book offers the full and in-depth Motorhead story, including many previously unpublished facts, revealed here for the very first time in print.
This story begins at the genesis of Motorhead, the struggles, the hardships, and the poverty; when no one but founder, bassist and vocalist, Lemmy Kilmister, had any faith in his band. His focus, tunnel-vision, and conviction to play the music he wanted to play has remained undiminished over the past 35 years and counting, and Lemmy s present status as a rock icon is proof that he was right to follow his vision. Today, with his long-time band cohorts, Phil Campbell on guitar, and Mikkey Dee on drums, the trio are regarded as one of the greatest rock bands in the world.
Here we have it, everything you ever wanted to know about Motorhead, but were afraid to ask!
The ultimate guide to one of the greatest rock bands of all time, Motorhead!
200+ full color, glossy pages with shiny silver trim featuring rare and early photos, unreleased material, and more information about the band than any other book on the market - all bound in a gorgeous sliver and red embossed hard cover!

#1 Motorhead
Known Origins: Vocalist-bassist-God Lemmy Kilmister wrote a song titled "Motorhead," a '70s slang term for a speed freak, when he was a member of psych-rock astronauts Hawkwind. But it would be the last song he'd write for the group. Hawkwind fired him in '75, he says, for "doing the wrong drugs." He then started a new group called Bastard, but his manager convinced him that the name would keep him off TV, so Kilmister changed it to the name of his last Hawkwind banger. As for that totally, awesomely superfluous umlaut? "I copied it off Blue Öyster Cult," says Kilmister. "I thought it looked mean. That's the thing, innit? It's like the guy in Slap Shot when he takes the sledgehammers to the bus. 'What are you doing?' And he goes, 'I'm making it look mean!'

http://loudwire.com/march-metal-madness-final-four/
March Metal Madness started over two weeks ago, with 32 of metal’s biggest bands facing off in violent confrontations to claim ultimate supremacy. Having started with 32, we’re now down to four. The Devil Horn Region hosted some incredibly intense battles, with the regional final consisting of Black Sabbath‘s ‘Paranoid’ facing off against Slayer‘s ‘Raining Blood.’ In a triumphant victory for thrash, Slayer managed to claim victory over the architects of metal known as Black Sabbath. The Moshpit Region came down to Australian hard rock legends AC/DC with ‘Back in Black’ going head-to-head with British heavy metal masters Iron Maiden and the epic ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name.’ The beast was obviously on the side of Maiden during March Metal Madness, as Iron Maiden defeated AC/DC in the finals. Onto the Headbanger Region — the final act showcased ‘Big 4′ leaders Metallica with ‘Master of Puppets’ vs. Pantera‘s ‘Walk.’ Although Pantera fans came out in force, Metallica pulled out another victory; moving onto our Final Four. Finally, we have the Stage Dive Region. Judas Priest and ‘Painkiller,’ came up against Motorhead and ‘Ace of Spades.’ In perhaps the most surprising victory yet, Motorhead killed the metal gods, bringing ‘Ace of Spades’ into the Final Four. So here you have it — the Final Four of March Metal Madness. Vote for which band you want to see in the finals in the poll below. Voting in the Final Four ends at 11:59 PM on Sunday, April 1.
Nearly four decades after founding the thunderous hard-rock band Motorhead, bass-playing vocalist Lemmy Kilmister is still one of the most unforgettable faces in rock ’n’ roll. The gravel-voiced 66-year-old and L.A. resident recently appeared on the 10th season premiere of VH1 Classic’s “That Metal Show” and is about to step out with his first solo record.
You’ve worked with VH1 on various shows. Do you ever watch yourself on-screen afterward? I usually watch them once, just to make sure I didn’t make too much of a fool out of myself. You’ve mentioned that you’re a big fan of the strip club Cheetahs. Have you been there since they’ve started booking bands? I haven’t been there much lately, but I know that’s a mistake. How desperate is that? I want to go there to see some strippers, not some dude with a guitar. At this stage in your career with Motorhead, why release a solo record? People kept asking me for one, and I have a lot of songs I couldn’t really do with Motorhead. I’ve been working on the thing for about seven years because I can only do it during the time I’m not with Motorhead. There’s not much of that. Who have been some of your favorite collaborators on it? Dave Grohl and Joan Jett were a couple great ones. I should have the album finished in a couple of months. No set release date yet. You also have a rockabilly side project called Head Cat. Has that style of music always been a part of your life? Yeah, it’s pretty much what I started out playing as a kid. Any specific memories from your recent gig on Gigantour with Megadeath and Lacuna Coil? Our L.A. show was probably the best show we’ve ever played out here. It must’ve been, because I had to miss the next four shows because of laryngitis. I just lost my voice. Has that ever happened before? Once or twice, I think. Since you’re at home in L.A., where do like to hang out? The Rainbow Bar is pretty much my local bar; it’s right up the street from me. I tend to chase women usually. I catch ’em now and again too.
Loudwire has launched its March Metal Madness 2012, their answer to the NCAA's March Madness. The editors have chosen 32 signature songs from the most iconic metal bands of all time in an effort to crown the all-time greatest metal song.
The competition is divided into four "regions" - Devil Horn, Moshpit, Headbanger and Stage Dive. Each region has its own set of songs in competition.
Anthrax's "Caught In a Mosh" is one of the songs competing in the Moshpit Region, Round 1 which kicked off yesterday and will end this Sunday, March 18 at 11:59PM. Round 2 starts on Monday.
